About David Lewin Industrial Design
David Lewin knows what it takes to make a great product. That success begins with thinking differently.
His creative roots trace back to New Haven, Connecticut, where he rode his BMX through the rusted edges of a post-industrial America. It was there, growing up as the son of an immigrant toolmaker, that David gained an early, visceral understanding of what Made in the USA really means, and a lifelong curiosity about the people behind the ideas.
That curiosity evolved into a formal design education at Rhode Island School of Design, where he earned his BFA in Industrial Design. Since then, David has carved a distinct path through both corporate and independent design worlds, bringing over three decades of product innovation to clients across the globe.
His portfolio reads like an atlas of innovation, spanning personal electronics, optics, tools, cookware, cutlery, flashlights, transportation, bags, apparel, medical devices, military-grade equipment, and footwear of nearly every type: athletic, casual, cleated, children’s, outdoor, skateboarding, BMX, triathlon and more.
David’s approach is equal parts hands-on and strategic. He’s a builder, a listener, and a problem solver who helps brands unlock design solutions that are both manufacturable and meaningful.
When he’s not sketching new concepts in DLID’s studio, you might find David cruising the Pacific Northwest in his ’67 Impala or ’65 Bel Air wagon with his wife and daughter. During the week, he laces up working samples of his own footwear designs on his walk to work.
